Calvary has a very active EYC that meets weekly.  Young people in grades 6 through 12 are encouraged to join.  The regular meetings are held on Sunday nights from 6:00-7:30.  Parents take turns preparing the meals for the meetings.  In addition to the weekly meetings, the EYC hosts a “Cookie Cutters” program in December where they help the younger children decorate Christmas cookies.  It is followed by a “Christmas Tea” for the children and their parents to enjoy the cookies.

The EYC also raises money for the Meals on Wheels program each year on “Souper Bowl” Sunday.  They assemble bags of soup mix and sell each mix with a “Calvary EYC Souper Bowl” cup and their proceeds are used to help those less fortunate.  We have had a Relay for Life team for the last 4 years and hosted the Survivors’ Breakfast last year.

For the last 4 years, we have had a group of teenagers to go to Glory Ridge with Barbara Lee on a mission trip.  This year, the trip will be June 12-18th.  Last year, we had 4 teenagers to go on a mission trip to Costa Rica.

The EYC has two yearly retreats.  One is in the fall and usually takes place at Topsail Beach.  This year the fall retread was held at the Lee Farm in Edgecombe County and the group had a blast.  The second is in the Spring and typically is in Bath, NC.  This years Spring Retreat will be April 28-30th.  In addition to the retreats, they have a “Lock In” once a year.  The group just had the Lock In this past weekend at the Lee’s Farm.
